Brand/Designer Info:
Fendi was founded in Rome in 1925 by Edoardo and Adele Fendi. Starting off with small and medium leather goods, they quickly became known for their handbags and fur products. Eventually their five daughters joined the business, and are still actively involved. In 1965 Fendi invited a young Karl Lagerfeld to join them, to assist with the creative direction of the brand. It was Karl Lagerfeld who designed the famous interlocking F motif.
Karl Lagerfeld remained with Fendi as Creative Director until his passing in 2019. (This was in addition to his role as Creative Director at Chanel since 1983.) Over the years Fendi has produced many show stopping, ready-to-wear masterpieces, and ‘it’ bags, the Fendi ‘Baguette’ amongst the most famous. Fendi are very proud of their Italian heritage, and actively ensure Italian heritage is preserved. An example of this is, in 2014, Fendi donated over 2 million Euros to assist in the restoration of the Trevi fountain in Rome as part of their Fendi for Fountains initiative.
