Rupert Sanderson launched his own shoe label in 2001. He learnt from both Sergio Rossi and Bruno Magli in Italy, acquiring the skills to make beautiful shoes using traditional methods handed down through generations. Today Rupert Sanderson shoes are designed in Britain and made by craftspeople in Italy. Rupert Sanderson shoes are seen as a symbol of understated British elegance. Sanderson has said he designs for the woman who buys for herself, someone who is independent, and has substance. His design philosophy is ‘less is more’, and draws inspiration from the sensual curve of the lasts and heels.
Rupert Sanderson has collaborated with fellow designers Karl Lagerfeld and Antonio Beradi, and stars including Cate Blanchet and Sandra Bullock have worn his designs. Bullock wore one of the pieces from Sanderson’s limited edition charitable collection to the film premier of Minions on the ‘yellow’ carpet.
From 22 April (Earth Day) 2020 onwards, Rupert Sanderson started supporting WeForest to regenerate forests in Brazil.
