Luxury brand Hermes began in 1837 when Thierry Hermes first established Hermes as a harness workshop on the Grand Boulevards quarter of Paris, dedicated to serving European noblemen. Thierry’s son Charles moved the workshop to 24 Rue Du Faubourg Saint-Honore in Paris, where today Hermes still has its flagship store and headquarters. Hermes goods are almost entirely made by hand. It takes two years of training for a newly hired artisan to work leather "the Hermes way," and six years of training to work precious leather.
